Kitchen / staff characters

Characters who work in the kitchen will have full characters and just as much plot as players who plays nobility. The price is the same for all players, including those portraying staff.

There will be 6 persons working in the kitchen.  One organizer will be in charge of the kitchen. The area is in-game at all time. We will strive to make the kitchen 'historically looking' but some modern appliances, and modern food packaging will be used. (Ie dishwasher etc)

The workers will be doing actual food preparation for all the food, but this will be a part of the larp. Play does not stop because of actual tasks.

If you wish to play a character working in the kitchen we will appreciate if you have some previous experience.

Photo policy

Players are more than welcome to take photos during the larp, either with an appropriate camera, or very discreetly with a modern one, without interrupting play. These should only be shared in the private Facebook group we will establish for players, and not spread without the consent of everybody in the photograph.

Information

All information players receive before the larp (character text, costume guide, background information etc.) will be in the shape of documents on Google Drive. To participate in this larp, you need to have an email account that you check regularly, access to Google Drive, and a Facebook account. The FB account does not have to be fleshed out with a lot of information, but will be used for ease of communication between players and organizers.

Gender and sexuality:

Queer and trans people have always existed, and the 1920s was a time of new and more modern gender expressions. Even so, people who met you would assume that you were straight and cis-gendered. It was not unusual for wealthy young men to have a male lover, but they were expected to “grow out of it”, and if a woman had a “schoolgirl crush” on another girl, this was considered to be a phase, not an identity. The larp includes no queer or trans characters who are out, and the larp is not meant to be a “coming out”-larp. However, we want all players to feel welcome and safe at our larp. Therefore, there will be no play on homophobia, transphobia or other criticism of non-straight, non-cis people.

BIPOC characters and racism:

The 1920s was an era that saw a lot of racism and racially motivated hate crimes across the western world, perhaps especially in the U.S., but also in Europe. None of the characters in this larp are written with a specified ethnicity in mind, but as American and European upper class, it is natural to assume that they, in this setting and context, would be mostly white, and also more or less racist in their world views. However, we want all players to feel welcome and safe at our larp. Therefore, there will be no play on racism and no use of racist slurs.

All characters are open to all players, regardless of your real life age, skin colour, gender identity, sexuality or origins.
